Red-breasted Merganser: 2 females and 2 males south of Port Haunn. One of the males was not in full breeding plumage but one female allowed him to follow her but not the displaying male in full summer plumage. Neither male followed the other female

Stonechat: 1 chick just able to fly at Haunn

Overview 30 April-6 May
This week the most of the Fulmars departed leaving only about 3-5 pairs which appear to be breeding although no eggs have been seen. Sedge Warbler and Common Whitethroat returned to their breeding areas this week and the only migrant yet to arrive is the Spotted Flycatcher. Great Northern Diver is still present moulting into summer plumage. Stonechat chicks are flying already and at least one pair of Shag are sitting on eggs. Whimbrel are on passage.
